Through the snow season it is a legal necessity that all vehicles entering the holiday resort carry snow chains. This includes AWD and 4WD vehicles and applies from the season opening on June 9 to the last time of the season on October 7.

The sheltered approach to Falls Creek means the road is not usually suffering from snow and ice conditions. Generally Leaf Chain chains are only fit during or directly after large snowfall, and usually limited to the final 5 – 10km. Be mindful of ice patches however as these can develop with clear conditions, especially in early morning.
